Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Who We Are

Verity is operated by Callum McCaffrey (sole trader) in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. ABN: pending registration. For privacy questions, email privacy@verity.run. This policy covers both the Verity mobile app and this website.

What We Collect

Verity collects the following personal information:

  • Postcode — to match you with your federal electorate and local representatives
  • Email address — if you join the waitlist or create an account
  • Apple ID — if you sign in with Apple (name and email, as provided by Apple)
  • Device identifiers — for push notifications and anonymous analytics
  • Usage data — which screens you visit, features you use, and content you interact with

We do not sell your data to anyone.

How We Use Your Data

Your postcode powers your personalised Daily Brief, MP updates, and representative information. Your email is used only for waitlist updates, account authentication, and critical service updates. Usage data helps us understand which features matter most and improve the product.

We do not use your personal data for advertising or profiling.

AI Features

Verity uses AI (powered by Anthropic's Claude) to generate daily briefs, summarise bills, and answer questions about parliament. All AI-generated content is labelled.

Data sent to Anthropic's API includes claim text, voting records, bill text, and Hansard excerpts. No personal information (your name, email, or postcode) is included in AI requests.

We do not use your personal data to train AI models. Anthropic may retain API request data per their data retention policy (anthropic.com/privacy). AI outputs are analysis, not fact-checks — always verify important claims with official parliamentary records.

Cross-Border Data Transfers

Your data is processed and stored using services based outside Australia:

  • Supabase (database & authentication) — servers in the United States
  • Anthropic (AI features) — servers in the United States
  • Vercel (this website & waitlist) — servers in the United States
  • Expo / EAS (app delivery & push notifications) — servers in the United States
  • Apple (Sign-In with Apple) — servers in the United States and Ireland

By using Verity, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in these jurisdictions. Each provider maintains security practices consistent with Australian Privacy Principle 8 (cross-border disclosure).

Third-Party Services

Verity integrates the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policy:

  • Supabase (supabase.com/privacy) — database, authentication, Edge Functions
  • Anthropic (anthropic.com/privacy) — AI text generation
  • Vercel (vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy) — website hosting
  • Expo (expo.dev/privacy) — app delivery, OTA updates, push notifications
  • Apple (apple.com/privacy) — Sign-In with Apple

We do not share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers.

Data Retention

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile screen in the app. Postcode and preferences are deleted immediately. Anonymised usage analytics may be retained for up to 12 months. Waitlist emails are kept until launch and then either migrated to your account (if you join) or deleted. Push notification tokens are deactivated on account deletion.

Children's Privacy

Verity is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact privacy@verity.run.

Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal information
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC)

To exercise these rights, email privacy@verity.run. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notification or email. Continued use of Verity after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
